Where Talent Lies! An African Reproach.

Firstly, I want to share with you, a very pathetic message I received from a follower on facebook.

Hello Sammy,

I’m Harriet, a graduate of Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua. I completed last year. Please I have always had a dream of becoming a fashion designer, since childhood but my father insisted that, he wants me to work as an accountant. For me that’s not my field. The reason been that, I am not academically good. I was repeated three times when i got to my second year in high school. It all began sometime ago, at age 10, when i spotted a child being beaten mercilessly by his teacher, just because he failed in his examination; this instilled fear in me. So since then, i developed this strange fear for my teachers in school. So this caused my failure in class anytime i partake in an examination. But my Dad doesn’t know all this, so all he keeps saying is that “Harriet you know I’m an educationist, look at me, I have three B.Sc. three Master’s degree and a PhD to show. So why don’t you take my footsteps, learn hard and become what i want you to be? If all the time you spend on daily in making this rubbish, were converted to your academic work, by now, you would have been on a very good pedestal. Life is not a joke and without a good results, you are going nowhere.”

Ever since he uttered those words to me, i haven’t being myself, i spend time crying, asking myself if, he is really my biological Dad. why can’t he forget about qualifications and support what i do best in; my passion for being a Fashion designer. He even went ahead to burn all the materials i use for my craft. I feel terrible now. I even won an award for “The Most Creative Student” because of my craft but my Dad got hold of it and destroyed it, saying, he wanted me to win an award for “The Best Overall Student” in school”. In fact, I feel horrible, I give up. I feel like committing suicide. Please Help Me.”

Indeed Parents are in the right position to direct the path of their Children but should we always pay heed to whatever decision they take concerning our lives, i mean our career? So what if that isn’t our chosen field? Will it be a sign of disrespect if a child refuses to take whatever career they choose for him/her. After reading this sad story, I became very worried.. Why do some Parent decide to render their wards useless by choosing a job field for them. Parents are to train, take a very good care of, ensure the well-being of their wards but not to choose for them, a job field. Children must be allowed to choose their career path in life. They know the capabilities/skills they possess.

Life as we see it, is not a joke. Each and every individual has a purpose to live for, a dream/goal to achieve and a mission to accomplish on this earth. Nobody was created without a purpose or a dream. I was watching a movie some weeks ago which actually talks about the pains and ordeals children go through in the hands of their Parents in the quest for a career path. And in this movie, there was a girl whose dad was a Professor and her mother a businesswoman, and this said girl in question, had the gift/talent of making beads and weaving beautiful baskets but her Dad insisted saying “None of my Children must become poor, its either, you change your mind and find something better doing in life, or you leave my house”. This went on and on, until, one day, the girl couldn’t bear the agony she was going through and committed suicide. So then, whose fault was it? Who caused it? Was it her Dad or herself?

American educator, author, businessman, and keynote speaker, Stephen Covey, in one of his Inspirational quote said “when you engage in a work that taps your talent and fuels your passion-that rises out in a great need in the world that you feel drawn by conscience to meet-therein lies your voice, your calling, your soul’s code”.

Parents need to understand that, you don’t have to be a Doctor, an Accountant or a Teacher to be successful, being a Fashion Designer, a Writer, Musician, can make you Successful. It all depends on how diligent you are with your work.

A Message to the Youth

Your time is limited. So don’t waste it living someone Else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma- which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Never let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Hard work and determination will show your Altitude in life. Never be discouraged. Take control of your destiny. You have a lot to bless the world with; your gifts, skill and all that you have inside of you. You are destined to reign. Follow your passion and you will achieve. You Can..You Will..

Don’t Give Up! You Can Achieve..Believe In Yourself!

maxresdefault

You want to be successful? You want to know what it takes to get there? I mean to your destination? To make your dreams come to pass? This is the first secret to success. How prepared are you? Are you ready to face the trials, pains, the rough roads and the consequences on your way to be successful?

Most people feel as if they are adrift in the world, just because they work hard but things don’t seem to work out for them. Believing in one’s self, comes along with confidence and it also paves half way through whatever that we have set our eyes on to achieve. You can do it if you believe! Let no one talk you down, making you believe you can’t achieve. You have the potentials hidden right inside of you. Tap into it and make good use of it. The secret to having it all, is believing you already do. Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come, remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome! Don’t look at the circumstances staring right at your face, they will be temporal if you take the first step in life. Bear in mind that, every first step you take in life determines if you going to make it or not.

Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can do anything, you put your mind to, and you can make anything happen. Confidence is something you create within yourself by believing in who you are. You have to understand that “Working hard is very important but there is something that matters even more- Believing In Yourself”.

i-will-not-believe-in-yourself

Just because you failed once, doesn’t mean you are going to fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will? The success we see, brings many loss. Be ready to face them. And also don’t forget, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” that is to believe in yourself. You Can..You Will.. If you Believe in Yourself!!

The Love of God

GodisLove_slide1x_365_y_273Many at times I ask myself, how can the just die for the unjust? Is it possible for this to happen? What does it take to be loved? Do we love at all? Of what essence will it be, to love one another? Why the Bible does tell us to love even our enemies? How well do we understand the word “Love”? Why do we live our life based on hatred?

As the Scriptures says “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Read Matthew 5:44-45) We are all not worthy of God’s Love. We fall short when it comes to the reciprocation of the love God showed us when He sent His only Begotten Son to descend and die on our behalf.

THE LIFE OF OUR SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST

Long time ago in a land called Bethlehem was a story on how a great and wonderful child was born into this world. His Parents were Mary and Joseph. His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she found out that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit. Joseph on the other hand was a man who always did what was right, but he did not want to disgrace Mary publicly; so he made plans to break the engagement privately. While he was thinking about this, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Joseph, descendant of David, do not afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived. She will have a Son and, you will name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sin. And indeed Jesus Christ our savior came to demonstrate the true definition of Love to mankind. He set us free from our miseries, our worries and every circumstances we find ourselves in.

                             His Teachings

1: Teaching about the Law

(Matthew 5:17-20)

Here Jesus Christ instructed or warned the people not to disobey the Laws or Commandment given to them by Moses. This is what He said and I quote “Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the Prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true. Remember that as long as Heaven and Earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with- not until the end of all things. So then whoever disobeys even the least important commandment and teaches others to do the same, will be least in the Kingdom of Heaven On the other hand whoever obeys the Law and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven. I tell you, then, that you will be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven only if you are more faithful than the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees in doing what God requires. In this teaching, Jesus Christ teaches us to be obedient in all our ways; to the Laws. And also by abiding and conforming to the rule s and regulations the Bible teaches us. We have to accord due respect to whom it is due. Never reject or forsake the Laws of Moses. Jesus Christ, Himself, made it vivid to us that, He did not come into this world to do away with the Laws but to make it come true. So as child of God or as Christians, we ought to live the life that Christ Jesus lived. A respectful and honest lives to impress our maker in Heaven.

2: Teaching about Adultery

(Matthew 5:27-30)

You have heard that it was said, “Do not commit Adultery”. But now I tell you: anyone who looks at a woman and wants to possess her is guilty of committing adultery with her in his heart. So if your right eye causes you to sin, take it out and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose a part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell. If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose one of your limbs than for your whole body to go to hell.

3: Teaching about Divorce

(Matthew 5:31-31)

It was also said, ‘Anyone who divorces must give her a written notice of divorce.’ But now I tell you, if a man divorces his wife, for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, then he is guilty of making her commit adultery if she marries again; and the man who marries her commits adultery also. This is what Christ says and also everyone, whether man or woman needs to understand that divorce is the last step to destruction and adultery. Any man who lives her wife to marry another woman leads her wife into committing adultery with any man that comes her way. She tends to develop hatred and bitterness towards every man. So my fellow men, this is message to you “Love your Wife as yourself.

Be ready to chase God with Her.

Devote your marriage to Christ Jesus

Involve the Holy Spirit in every decision you make in the family.

And most above all, Love her like the way, God loved us.

4: Teaching about Vows

(Matthew 5:33-37)

Christ Jesus in one of His meetings with the people, spoke about the act of breaking promises. So I ask why, do we make empty promises if we know deep down our hearts that, we can’t or not be ready to fulfill the promise. Some people tend to swear by heaven even when they are the ones at fault. Jesus’ message to the people:

You have also heard that people were told in the past,

‘Do not break your promise, but do what you have vowed to the Lord to do.

‘But now I tell you: do not use any vow when you make a promise.

Do not swear by heaven, for it is God throne; nor by earth, for it is the

Resting place for His feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of a great king.

Do not even swear by your head, because you cannot not make a single hair

White or black. Just say yes or no. Anything else you say comes from the evil

                                      One.

5: Love for Enemies

(Matthew 5:43-48)

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your friends, hate your enemies, ‘but now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, So that you may become the children of your father in heaven. For he makes His sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. Why should God reward if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! And if you speak to only your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the Pagans do that! You must be perfect; Just as your father in heaven is perfect.

In this teaching, Christ taught the people about love. He urged mankind to love thy neighbour as thyself. So why has the world we live, turned upside down because of hatred? Even God in His own infinite wisdom, expressed and demonstrated the true definition of Love. His Love for us is Pure, Real, unconditional, and without measure. That is why, He sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to die on our behalf, to cleanse us from our sins and iniquities. Fellow Christians, I urge you to let go of any past hurt, bitterness disappointment, and problems caused by the people around us and let love take the lead. Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fails. Love is Eternal.

6:  Teaching about Prayer

      (Matthew 6:5-15)

When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and one the street corners, so that everyone will see them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. But when you pray, go to your room, close the door and pray to your father, who is unseen. And your father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you. When you pray do not use a lot of meaningless words; as the pagans do, who think their gods will hear them because their prayers are long. Do not be like them. Your father knows what you need before you ask Him. This, then, is how you should pray:

                            ‘Our father in Heaven:

                             May your holy name be honored;

                            May your kingdom come

May your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thy, is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your father in Heaven will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

7: Teaching about Fasting

(Matthew 6:16-18)

And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair, So that others will not know that you are fasting; only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And who sees what you do in private, will reward you. Amen

        His Healing

we-healed-by-the-blood-of-jesus-516

1: Jesus heals the sick in Gennesaret

    (Matthew 14:34-36)

They crossed the lake and came to the land at Gennesaret, where the people recognized Jesus. So they sent for the sick people in all the surrounding country and brought them to Jesus. They begged him to let those who were ill at least touch the edge of his cloak; and all who touched it were made well.

2: Jesus Heals Many People

      (Matthew 15:29-31)

Jesus left there and went along by Lake Galilee. He climbed a hill and sat down. Large crowds came to him, bringing with them, the lame, the blind, the crippled, the dumb, and many other sick people, whom they placed at Jesus’ feet and he healed them. The people were amazed as they saw the dumb speaking, the crippled made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they praised the God of Israel.  This right here makes it clear to us that, there is nothing Christ Jesus can’t do in our lives. He is able to do, exceedingly, abundantly and beyond what we could ever imagine. Let us put our trust in Him and He will never let us down. He is our healer.

3: Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

       (Matthew 20:29-34)

As Jesus and His disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd was following. Two blind men who were sitting by the road heard that Jesus was passing by, so they began to shout, “Son of David! Take pity on us, sir!” The crowd scolded them and told them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly, “Son of David! Take pity on us, sir!” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” He asked them. “Sir,” they answered “we want you to gives us our sight!” Jesus had pity on them and touched their eyes; at once they were able to see, and they followed Him.

4: Jesus Heals A Boy With A Demon

        (Matthew 17:14-20)

When they returned to the crowd, a man came to Jesus, knelt before him, and said, “Sir, have mercy on my son! He is and epileptic and has such terrible fits that he often falls in the fire or into water. I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him” Jesus answered, “How unbelieving and wrong you people are! How long must I stay with you? Bring the boy here to me!”  Jesus gave a command to the demon and it went out of the boy, and at that very moment He was healed. Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked Him, “Why couldn’t we drive the demon out?” It was because you haven’t enough faith, “answered Jesus. “I assure you that if you have faith as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this hill, ‘Go from here to there!’ and it will go. You could do anything. This passage teaches every believer to develop the act of faith. “For we walk be faith, not by sight, 2Corinthians 5:7” And Also “Faith without works is dead; James 2:17”. So my fellow Christians, have faith in Christ Jesus, be strong, stand firm and you will experience the goodness of God prevail in your life.

.

    His Death

Way back those days, crucifixion was the most shameful punishment to be given to any criminal who was caught in any bad act. This punishment wasn’t meant for people who do good or without sin, but because of the hatred the people developed for him, He was killed. The only crime He committed was showing love, and yet they treated him with so much contempt. He was Condemned, Made mockery of, Spitted on and killed, all because of our sins: something we were meant to suffer for. He paid it all. He paid the price, He took away every situation, difficulties, depression, sicknesses, and our retrogression. And on the third day, He rose again from the death and ascended into Heaven. So now we free to rejoice and sing praises unto His name. And also, you can enjoy all the benefits of His Death and Resurrection if, we devote our entire life to Him. We are the reason for His death. He came to save us, cleanse us, give us good life in abundance. So why don’t you repent of your sins and come to Him. He is ever ready with a widely opened hand to receive anyone who repents from sin and runs back to him. He is our first love. His love for us knows no bound. He loves us so much, so why can’t we also reciprocate the love, He showed us? Brethren God loves so much. “We love because God first loved us. If we say we love God, but hate our brothers and sisters, we are liars, for people cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if they do not love their brothers and sisters, whom they have seen. The Command that Christ Jesus has given us is this: all who love God, must love their brothers and sisters also. Let love lead!

finding peace.

Bob Ebeling with his daughter Kathy and his wife, Darlene.

Bob Ebeling spent a third of his life consumed with guilt about the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger. But at the end of his life, his family says, he was finally able to find peace.

“It was as if he got permission from the world,” says his daughter Leslie Ebeling Serna. “He was able to let that part of his life go.”

Ebeling died Monday at age 89 at in Brigham City, Utah, after a long illness, according to his daughter Kathy Ebeling.

Hundreds of NPR readers and listeners helped Ebeling overcome persistent guilt in the weeks before his death. They sent supportive e-mails and letters after the January story marking the 30th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy.

Ebeling was one of five booster rocket engineers at NASA contractor Morton Thiokol who tried to stop the 1986 Challenger launch. They worried that cold temperatures overnight — the forecast said 18 degrees — would stiffen the rubber o-ring seals that prevent burning rocket fuel from leaking out of booster joints.

“We all knew if the seals failed, the shuttle would blow up,” said engineer Roger Boisjoly in a 1986 interview with NPR’s Daniel Zwerdling.

Ebeling was the first to sound the alarm the morning before the Challenger launch. He called his boss, Allan McDonald, who was Thiokol’s representative at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

McDonald phoned Ebeling recently after hearing the NPR story.

“If you hadn’t called me,” McDonald told Ebeling, “they were in such a ‘go’ mode, we’d have never been able to stop it.”

Three decades ago, McDonald organized a teleconference with NASA officials, Thiokol executives and the worried engineers.

Ebeling helped assemble the data that demonstrated the risk. Boisjoly argued for a launch delay. At first, the Thiokol executives agreed and said they wouldn’t approve the launch.

“My God, Thiokol,” responded Lawrence Mulloy of NASA’s Marshall Spaceflight Center. “When do you want me to launch? Next April?”

Despite hours of argument and reams of data, the Thiokol executives relented. McDonald says the data was absolutely clear but politics and pressure interfered.

Ebeling blamed himself for failing to convince Thiokol executives and NASA to wait for warmer weather.

“I think that was one of the mistakes God made,” Ebeling told me in January. “He shouldn’t have picked me for that job.”

The morning of the launch, a distraught Ebeling drove to Thiokol’s remote Utah complex with his daughter.

“He said, ‘The Challenger’s going to blow up. Everyone’s going to die,’” Serna recalls. “And he was beating his fist on the dashboard. He was frantic.”

Serna, Ebeling and Boisjoly sat together in a crowded conference room as live video of the launch appeared on a large projection screen. When Challenger exploded, Serna says, “I could feel [Ebeling] trembling. And then he wept — loudly. And then Roger started crying.”

Three weeks later, I sat with Ebeling at his kitchen table, tears and anger punctuating his words. He didn’t want to be recorded or named at the time. Both he and Boisjoly, who died in 2012, became NPR’s anonymous sources in the first detailed account of the effort to keep Challenger grounded.

“That’s my engineering background coming out,” Ebeling explained three decades later. “Somebody should tell … the truth.”

Ebeling retired soon after the Challenger disaster. He used his engineering expertise and what he proudly called his love of ducks to help restore a bird refuge near his home, which was damaged by floodwater from the Great Salt Lake. In 1990, President George H. W. Bush presented Ebeling with the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Award.

Ebeling continued to volunteer at the refuge for 22 years and was named the Volunteer of the Year for the National Wildlife Refuge system in 2013.

But that work didn’t diminish lingering pain and guilt. God “picked a loser,” Ebeling said in January, thinking back to his role in the Challenger launch.

Then Ebeling heard from hundreds of NPR readers and listeners, who responded to the January story.

“God didn’t pick a loser. He picked Bob Ebeling,” said Jim Sides, a utilities engineer in North Carolina.

“Bob Ebeling did his job that night,” Sides continued. “He did the right thing and that does not make him a loser. That makes him a winner.”

Ebeling also heard from two of the people who had overruled the engineers back in 1986. Former Thiokol executive Robert Lund and former NASA official George Hardy told him that Challenger was not his burden to bear.

And NASA sent a statement, saying that the deaths of the seven Challenger astronauts served to remind the space agency “to remain vigilant and to listen to those like Mr. Ebeling who have the courage to speak up…”

The burden began to lift even as Ebeling’s health declined. A few weeks before his death, he thanked those who reached out to him.

“You helped bring my worrisome mind to ease,” Ebeling said. “You have to have an end to everything.”

Bob Ebeling is survived by his wife Darlene and 35 descendants spanning four generations, including a grandson studying engineering and granddaughter Ivy Lippard. Lippard joined NPR readers and listeners in posting a message about her grandfather on the website.

Lippard described Ebeling as a man “full of integrity” with a “legacy of compassion.”

“It’s an honor,” she wrote, “to be able to pass down his legacy.”

Being Able to Write isn’t the Only Skill You’ll Need

A lot of people assume that if they can write well (following conventional spelling and grammatical constructions), then they can blog. On the same note, a lot of people assume that if they can’t write well (can’t spell or aren’t grammar gods), they can’t blog.

Neither could be further from the truth.

In addition to writing and editing skills, a great blogger is creative, funny, clever, motivated, innovative, forward-thinking, and self-motivated.

Blogs that make it are those maintained by authors who aren’t afraid to think outside of the box, know how to market their blogs well, are artistic or otherwise graphically inclined for website design, and know how to use social media to promote their blog.

If you don’t have writing and editing skills, you can always hire an editor to help you out. If you aren’t creative or motivated, though, there isn’t much that will help your blog thrive.

Blogging is a Fun (and Free!) Hobby

Blogging can be a fun hobby that doesn’t cost you a dime.

It can improve your writing and communication skills, give you an outlet to express yourself, allow you to stay in touch with friends and family by writing about your life, and give you something to do that’s productive and worthwhile if you have a lot of free time.

Who knows, if you become great at it, you may turn yourself into a popular blogger that’s worth following.

How to Start a Blog

The last thing that you need to know about blogging is how to actually start a blog. Starting a blog has been made incredibly easy by free services like Blogger.com or WordPress.com.

Make sure to take into consideration the things mentioned above.

Blogging can be highly competitive, so know your purposes for starting one. It can also be great for your business, but it requires an extensive set of skills.

In the end, blogging is both fun and free (at least for personal use).
