It is also about highlighting new emerging opportunities for Youth in Africa. Ranging from entrepreneurship and job creation to partnership, collaboration and more.

Youth Uniting Africa, in partnership with The Bright Continent, Alliance Francaise Accra and other like minded organisations is set to be an annual youth conference happening in different African countries each year.

This will in turn help us promote community integration by bringing together people from different social backgrounds and exchanging ideas.

Ghana has always focused on economic empowerment as the key to youth development; apparently due to the alarming unemployment rate. However, this approach has failed.

As a young person, you make up the majority of the population. You know the issues and problems affecting youth in Ghana today. You have experienced the ups and downs of development. You have thought of creative ideas and solutions to all these issues.

It is now time to act!

Discuss the major challenges currently facing Youth in Africa and identify reasonable and actionable solutions.
Identify the emerging opportunities for Youth in Africa: Job Creation, Education, Talent Development, Policymaking and Governance.
Promote community integration by creating a shared Action Plan outlining actions African Youth can take to achieve both personal and continental goals.

Africa’s population was at 1.216 billion (2016). Africa is the world’s youngest continent, with 60% of the Africa’s population under 25.

Africa also has the youngest population in the world. It is time for the youth to create solutions and take up the responsibility of building and developing Africa.

What will the forum look like?

Youth Uniting Africa is a 4-hour forum, set to happen at Alliance Française Accra, in Accra, Ghana, on the 29th June, 2019 between 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

We will have a panel discussion featuring 6 guest speakers. This will be followed by an open question and answer session where the audience will also get to share their views.

After that, we will have a performance slot featuring selected artists, poets and musicians. Finally, we will end with an open networking session over snacks and drinks.

It seeks to share the rich and diverse expressions of African music and culture in an inclusive, vibrant and positive community festival setting. A trait that Sherifa Gunu represents through her unique genre of music. Throughout the years she has stuck to her originality as a trailblazer of traditional african music across Africa and at the world stage at large. Afrofest, presents a diverse audience and a centre stage where geneuine African musical acts is celebrated. The energy that is reminiscent of African music will definitely be felt there, and this will ultimately enhance the understanding and appreciation of the diversity Africa represents.

About Sherifa Sherifa Gunu hails from the Kingdom of Dagbon, in the Northern Region of Ghana, She was born in to a royal family, she started her music and dance career at a tender age. She became the northern Regional dance champion and the first runner up in the 1998 Embassy Pleasure, a popular national dance championship in the 1990s. She later participated in the 2003 Hiplife dance championship with the likes of King Ayisoba and Terry Bonchaka. Sherifa Gunu became the first runner up to Terry Bonchaka in the finals of the championship. In 2017, Sherifa Gunu released a new single titled Salamatu, which is also the title of her new album.
